9/6/16: Yesterday was Labor Day

I didn’t want to post anything yesterday except the tribute I reblogged about Lexi, because I was feeling bad about her passing.

However, the humans were very busy all day, and now I know why it’s called, “Labor Day”. They did more labor yesterday than most days combined!

For one thing, they closed the pool for swimming. Mom says she doesn’t care what the calendar says; summer is over for her because there’s no more swimming. That took a really long time and lots of teamwork, but they got it done. Now to see if the pool and cover stand up to strong winds and winter!

Dad played lumberjack and cut down these weird trees that were growing in odd places. You know those little helicopters that come down in the spring? A couple of them had taken root in bad spots (next to the house, next to the fence) and Dad chopped them away. I felt kind of bad about the one that had taken hold next to the fence. It was like a little “privacy screen” for me, and besides, the leaves were tasty and just my height. But, it’s gone now. (sighs)

The humans also tackled the garage. Moving things and throwing things away, putting the pool things to the back and bringing Halloween decorations and the snow shovels to the front. This activity I watched with misery. I know the dark and the snow is coming, sooner or later.

Once everything was done and accounted for, the humans ate a very early dinner and took showers. I thought they smelled quite interesting before the showers, but rather boring post-bathing. A short while later, we piled into the car and drove out to The Original Rainbow Cone (I have blogged about this before). I took a picture of the building in the daylight:

This is Rainbow Cone’s 90th anniversary! Mom got a close up of the delicious, frozen confection:

There it is, in all of its melting glory! Mom brought along some treats for me since ice cream isn’t really all that good for a dog’s tummy.

I hope you all had a fantastic holiday and weekend.

Woof! Love, Maggie
