8/19/13 Getting Ready for School

Jamie starts 8th grade Wednesday, the 21st.  This morning was a flurry of activity as Mom and Jamie went through forms, wrote checks, unpacked, sorted, and repacked supplies, and ironed uniforms.

I helped out any way I could; namely, by snatching hangers, stealing markers, grabbing Kleenex, that sort of thing.  I would capture my quarry and take it to my favorite spot on the landing and chew, chew, chew.  All in good fun, of course.

Jamie was having a case of the end-of-vacation blues, so he set up the Hot Wheels track again.  He’s got this little car that is actually a video camera and was taking footage of the cars rolling down the track.  I have to admit, these little cars just drive me to a frenzy.  I got so excited that I just started snagging anything I could find.  Finally I grabbed Dad’s plastic box of paper clips from the counter, and they fell out of my jaws and smashed loudly on the kitchen floor.  Paper clips flew everywhere and when Jamie bent down to retrieve them, I mercilessly “flashmobbed” him, licking every square inch of his face and his ears as well.  Jamie rolled helplessly on the floor while I continued to give him a good washing.  Finally I relented and rolled over on my back for a belly rub, which he happily gave me.  My tail beat on the kitchen floor and we both grinned.  I guess I helped with his bad mood, too!

Woof!  Love, Maggie

7/25/13 A Day In The Crate

Image

(Exhausted after yesterday’s walk with Laurel. Thanks, Laurel, for the picture!)

I’m glad I’m developing somewhat of a better relationship with my crate, because I spent most of the day in it!  At least how that seemed to me.  Mom had to see Dr. L. at his suburban office, and Dad and Jamie went along.  They put me in the crate and I will say, Mom says she fretted the whole time.  A long time.

When my humans came home, I was asleep, and at first I didn’t hear them come in.  However, as soon as I came to, I started wagging my tail furiously, pounding the sides of the crate for them to let me out.  Jamie let me out and Mom was ready with a treat.  Soon, I was basking in the sun outside in the backyard, chewing contentedly.  My people had not forgotten me.

As a matter of fact, Mom and Dad and Jamie had gone to the big dog food supermarket, kind of like a feed store, and brought back all kinds of goodies for me, since Dr. W. changed my diet:  Lamb & Rice kibble, Lamb & Rice canned food, snap biscuits, and organic natural canine treats.  Hopefully, this will solve the last of my itching (I have to take human Benadryl, too, in case I forgot to mention that) and I will, in addition, eat like a Queen.  Mom says I am eating better than the rest of the family!  I think she’s kidding me.

I dragged my blanket out of the crate to relax when I was done outside, and it was Belly Rub Central in here.  Dad had to go back to work, but Jamie and Mom fawned all over me.  I love it!

Have you belly-rubbed your dog today?

Love, Maggie
