7/18/13 Dad’s Birthday

Today is Dad’s birthday, and he was having a great day up until the time that Air Conditioner broke down and went on the fritz.  We are in the middle of a heat wave, so the timing could not have been worse.  Dad tried to fix Air Conditioner but he couldn’t do it; so tomorrow a Repairman is coming and that means back to the crate for me.  You know how I jump.

I was in the crate for almost 2 1/2 hours when the cable guy was here to swap cable boxes and fix up Dad’s new TV that he got for his birthday.  The man was really nice, and said that he had a 115-lb. Bulldog as a pet.  He told Mom I could come out of the crate, but, like I said, you know how I get.  Miss Friendly.  Overly Friendly, as a matter of fact.  So I waited it out.

I think Dad had a good day up until the bit of a snafu happened.  He got some nice gifts, only worked in the morning, took Mom and Jamie out to lunch, and brought me some tasty tidbits back from the restaurant.

But now he’s hanging kind of low.  Also, it’s warming up in here and Repairman won’t be out until the morning.  Mom put out fans and to be honest, I didn’t even bark at the noise.  I can tell Dad’s not in the mood.  Mom said not to worry, because at least it wasn’t Refrigerator who went kaput, so we don’t have to throw everything away.  I guess that’s one way to look at it.

Anyway, I just wanted to say “Happy Birthday” to the best Dad ever.  I love you so much!  I feel a “flashmob” coming on!

Love,  Maggie

7/17/13 More Random Thoughts

I feel like such a girly-girl today.  I went to the groomer’s and was there for almost 3 hours.  Granted, they were running a little late, but I saw lots of dogs, got a bath, a conditioner, my nails filed, teeth brushed, breath spray (hhhhhello!) and a spritz of cologne.  Mmmm-mmm!  Nice!

Laurel came by today and since it was like 100 degrees outside, we worked on commands in the house.  This got me to thinking about the incident with Rufus.  I guess the problem was not me defending my territory and family, but the fact that when Mom yelled for me to stop I did not stop.  I know obedience school is going to help me with this.

It’s after 10:00 pm and Dad is still not home from work yet.

Mom and Jamie went for a “midnight swim” after dinner and we could hear the coyotes yowling.  At first we thought it was an ambulance.  There was definitely a pack of animals.  I barked out some warnings but we went in soon afterward.  Brrrr!

Mom made a reservation for me at the pet hotel for when they go out of town for a weekend.  I’m going to be spoiled rotten!

Tomorrow is Dad’s birthday.  The day afterwards is Mom’s.  Partytime!

Stay cool!

Love, Maggie
